EFEN presents new E⁵ series of NH fuse switches, vertical design with optimized safety mechanisms and integrable measurement and monitoring technology

With the new E⁵ series, EFEN introduces an enhanced generation of NH fuse switches, vertical design for use in power distribution systems in accordance with IEC and DIN standards. The series covers sizes 00/185 to 3 and is rated for nominal currents from 160 to 2000 A. Its design and functionality are aligned with increasing requirements for operational safety, system availability, and digital condition monitoring.

The E⁵ series features a technically revised interlocking mechanism that reliably prevents unauthorized or unsafe operations. The switching cage can only be removed using defined operating elements, and fuse removal is clearly indicated both mechanically and visually. The functional logic is designed to ensure reproducible switching sequences and minimize operating errors during live operation. This enables the series to meet heightened safety requirements in industrial and energy technology environments.

To support integration into modern power distribution systems, the mechanical architecture of the E⁵ series has been designed in a compact form. The devices, available in both 1‑pole and 3‑pole versions, allow flexible connection configurations using cable lugs or V‑clamps. For incoming feeder applications, disconnect strips rated up to 2000 A are available, making the series suitable for both new installations and retrofit projects.

For system monitoring, EFEN offers various modular and combinable options. Fuse monitoring units can be mounted either on the switch cover or on the base, enabling phase‑accurate fuse monitoring. Through the integrated Modbus interface, collected condition data can be incorporated into higher‑level control and monitoring systems. The series thus supports the development of digitalized power distribution systems with increased transparency and faster fault localization.

A key feature of the E⁵ series is the ability to integrate measurement functions without requiring additional installation space. In combination with the Measurement Electronic Module (MEM1 Gen.2), measurement data can be captured in a compact and straightforward manner. Data and power supply via RJ45 interfaces enable plug‑and‑play integration, while the current transformers are housed on the rear of the disconnector. This allows precise acquisition of energy and load data during operation without requiring modifications to the system layout.
